I'm A Slacker

After my last posting on my outing to the Tetons, I have been a little out of sorts when it comes to keeping everyone up to date.  I have been very (very, very, very) busy with school and my two jobs, but really it doesn't take that long to post.  So I ask your forgiveness.
To be honest I was a little bummed after my last hike.  Even though it was fun and a good experience, I didn't reach my goals on the hike, and that got on my nerves.  I have had a few things to post on and just haven't had the motivation.  Being busy is really more of a lame excuse.
The first weekend in October I drove up I-15, almost to the Montana border, to Stoddard Creek Campground.  This is a great place to family camp and there are some forest service roads to ride dirt bikes.  These roads could be used to get "lost" and get away from the crowds.  Being on of the last days of "summer" there were a few families at the campgrounds and every once in a while a quad or two would go by.
My family went up for the day, the campground is only about an hour and a half away.  We met up with my sister-in-law and her family.  There was a creek for the kids to play in and a great mix of shade and sun.
My brother-in-law brought up one of his families quads for us to enjoy.  I took my son up on some trails into the hills.  As we came around a one of the corners on the trail 3 mule deer crossed our path.  My son got pretty excited.  I turned off the quad and we walked to with in 25 ft. of the doe and her two fawns, we all five stared at each other for about 10 minutes.
After the deer ran off we continued down the hill.  We got back to camp and enjoyed a nice fire with roasted hot dogs and smores.
After a summer full of disappointing camping trips, this day was a nice cap of leisurely outdoor enjoyment.
