Survival #1

A couple of weeks ago I was shopping around Home Depot for a couple things I needed for my apartment complex. As I was walking around dreading the fact that I am still working on the sprinkler system, I came across some glow sticks. Upon further inspection I discovered these were no regular glow stick, and really for around $4 they shouldn't be.

This Life Gear brand glow stick is more than it seems.  It is a LED flashlight, glow stick, flashing glow stick, and even has a whistle in the end.  The flashlight is bright enough to use in a tent in conjunction with a headlamp while backpacking.  The stick glows the color of the top of the stick, and can flash as a signal marker.

These sticks could be used for camping or backpacking, but would also be great for capture the flag and other games.  Instead of trying to find room for a flashlight in your car, you could put one of these into the glove box with ease.  A definite add to any 72+hr. kit.  They have a life of 200 hrs.

Life gear has a whole range of flashlights and other survival gear, I suggest you check them out.  My next few posts are going to be survival based.
